  • Swifty's 308 sounded much healthier than at previous rounds. The classic regs demanded a change back to standard carbs, which necessitated a lot of playing with jets and road testing. Swifty is now the fastest pizza delivery boy in Yorkshire, and the 308 sounds sharper than for years.
  • The gentlemanly nature of classic was emphasised when two drivers 'fessed up to some contact in practice. No-one else had even noticed. Mind you, one hillclimber was upset by some contact in the race, but that, unfortunately, is the nature of the game when there's more than one on the road at the same time. Why do race cars gravitate towards one another?
  • Two spectating hillclimbers, fired up by the classic race, were discussing the possibility of buying a Mondial between them and sharing it . But then their birds heard about it and that soon put a stop to that.

  • Marco turned up for the race in a lovely Mondial but further probing revealed that this was to replace his somewhat bouffant white 308GTS which had slid off the road on a patch off mud and ended up a bit crumpled. Bet it took him a while to go home and tell his Mum......
  • David Wild, and spellbound paddock onlookers, witnessed a miracle when he tested the lights on his 308. Both headlights came up AND went down again! In unison!
  • Odhran McConnell worked hard for his result. He got up at an ungodly hour on a damp Saturday morning, drove 200 miles from deepest Hertforshire to civilisation up North, practiced, raced and then drove 200 miles home again. A real club racer - thus proving that not all southern F-car owners are only interested in shandy and Tubis.
  • When NP-B passed David Wild going into Lodge he thought his mind was playing tricks on him when he heard a cheer. It wasn't, he did - it was from a bunch of his adoring fans who happened to be standing there. So, you racers, when you pass someone then do it gently, keep the revs down, and listen carefully.
  • On a more serious note, a classic racer was spotted fueling up after the race at a nearby service station on the public road with his competition numbers still on. Easily done, but naughty as it could get the Club into trouble as well as the driver.
