FERRARI HILL CLIMB CHAMPIONSHIP
REPORT : ROUND 13 : CURBOROUGH : 6 OCTOBER 2002

Seven of us turned out for this last event of the year. Strangely for Curborough (especially at this time of year) it was a warm sunny day with hardly any wind.

‘Bob’ was the only non-red Ferrari on parade (I seem to be out of line everywhere this year).

Apart from the odd fluffed gearchange, and Philip Whitehead trying to drive his 355 over the ‘molehill’ kink rather than around it on his first practice run, we all had a fairly uneventful time.

Perhaps with the first three championship places already tied up we were just out to enjoy ourselves. Chris Hitchman (308GTS) was the exception, taking over a second off his previous best and moving himself up into Geoff Dark / Mike Spicer territory. Philip Whitehead (355) also improved massively on his previous best, though that was to be expected as it was set in wet conditions last year.

Jon Goodwin (355GTS) took his normal easy win, but failed to beat his previous record. Richard Prior in his 348GTS followed him home to take the second spot.
