FERRARI HILL CLIMB CHAMPIONSHIP The weather was mostly brilliant - our Ferraris looked splendid and Graeme Wight Jr broke the outright hill record in his Gould, and Jon Goodwin broke his own record for the Ferrari class with his F355. There was some excitement, though, as Geoffrey Rollason running his new 360 Modena two or three cars ahead of Goodwin actually broke the old mark first by a substantial two tenths. A minute or two later Jon rather unkindly shaved off a futher two hundredths! Richard Allen and Terry Esom posted identical times in their 355s, with Richard's second run time braking the tie to take the third place. Fourth overall, Geoff Dark (308GTB) went faster than he had ever been here before, setting some blinding times to shade the rest of the Ferraris. Just two tenths covered John Marshall (328GTB), Mike Spicer (308GTB), Richard Prior (348tb), and Keith Maddox (328GTB). Andrew Duncan set his best ever time with his pristine 328GTS, but in
practice, and was disappointed to go slower on Sunday. The 330GTC driven
by Tony Willis looked magnificent, but after Top Ess it ran out of something
and could only make 60mph through the top trap. Despite this Tony still
enjoyed himself Jon Goodwin at last took that elusive 20 point maximum point score,
so what with a class win and a new record he looked pleased too! RESULTS :
