- Chris Catt's performance may look a little off this weekend but in
truth the poor lad was suffering from a bad back. At least that is how
he explained the massage he received from Carol Fairchild which very
nearly made him late for the drivers' briefing.
- Marshals do get a fair bit of criticism and it is easy to forget that
without them there would be no racing at all. However when Oliver Morley's
360 set itself on fire in the collection area after race two you would
have thought the there would have been a marshal there to deal with
it promptly. As it was only an irate Graham Reeder got them to act at
all. Perhaps a burning Ferrari is part of the fun, and the Reeders have
a certain familiarity with them.
- Ask Swifty about his trailer electrics and he will have a story to
tell. They had an adventurous run home in the gathering gloom and the
trailer was soon enveloped in darkness. A kindly soul lent a hand and
did an impromptu re-wire.
- When racing gets very competitive - like ours is this season - drivers
do tend to get the cheque book out. The JMH boys had tested at Brands
no less than four times prior to this week-end's racing. And that is
from a Cheshire base camp.
- The other home for itchy money is Pirelli, and tyres are being thrown
at PMFC at the moment much to our sponsor's delight. The perception
is that new tyres give an advantage and this is undeniable. However
one does tend to think that they are used as excuses sometimes (he's
only faster 'cos he has new tyres on).
- There were some old boys at Brands this week-end. Ex. Champions John
Wilson and Robin Mortimer were seen about, both there for Radicals -
John racing and Robin banking cheques - nothing changes !
