PIRELLI MARANELLO FERRARI CHALLENGE |
PADDOCK STORIES:
ROUND 14 : SNETTERTON - 12 SEPTEMBER
2004
|
- Whilst the Club's posers were at 'Simply Red' at Donington , Janet
n' Jim and friends provided their usual excellent catering service,
laying on a splendid buffet which included an impressive array of home-baked
cakes and biscuits, to universal acclaim. The only problem was they
had to 'strike camp' before the gale-force wind did it for them!
- Talking of the wind, it totally trashed JMH's truck awning. I know
these things are expensive, but was surprised to see Jason writing all
those noughts on the insurance claim....... Whilst we're on the subject
of insurance, I hope the new Mrs Hughes has cranked-up Jason's who seems
not to have discovered the connection between 240 volts and rain-water
(see pic below).
- Marco Attard's Damax-run car was suffering from ABS problems. JMH
helped out with their diagnostics gizmo checking both his car and Back's
to see what a brake computer should be saying. Bearing in mind the the
subsequent ECU related protests flying around it's nice to see the teams
keeping things in perspective.
- A relaxed Terry Coleman returned to the PMFC from fishing in Russia
and promptly stuck his 360 on pole to the consternation of the regulars!
When asked about his tactics for the start he said he hadn't thought
and "Sure 'tis up to dem behoind to worry about havin an auld banker
in front". Funny, we thought he was in the security equipment business...
Terry subsequently won the Wilkinson 'Driver of the Day' award for his
smooth, unflustered drive to second.
- The latest "must have" accessory was on display in David
Dove's magnificent transporter - the biggest generator you've ever seen,
the size of a Merlin. Some of the classic blokes were enviously
eyeing it up with a view to a transplant. Dove's 355 was for sale, apparently
he's considering a 360/Ch, should be interesting...
- It was Kevin Riley's birthday at Snett. and he was presented with
a cake shaped like his 360/Ch. Some wag suggested that the cook should
have bashed it around a bit and then set it on fire to make it more
representative.
- Those at Donington reported that the Club were the stars of the meeting
with over 150 members' Ferraris on display and that the racing wasn't
that good and would have been greatly enhanced by having the Club's
Series' there - maybe next year eh?
