24 HOURS OF LE MANS
Four Ferrari F333SPs were entered in the Prototype category of this gruelling race.
The team of Wayne Taylor/Eric Van de Poele/Fermin Velez won their class and finished eighth overall. A second F333SP, that of Gianpiero Moretti/Didier Theys/Mauro Baldi finished 14th overall, after having to change the entire gear box/transmission assembly at 7.00 a.m. on Sunday morning.
The other two Ferraris both retired due to transmission problems but not until they had raced for 12 and 15 hours respectively.
The overall winner was a Porsche GT1 driven by McNish/Aiello/Ortelli.
