SCHUMACHER SEES FRENCH GRAND PRIX AS DECIDER
Magny Cours, 16th June 1998

Michael Schumacher has said that he believes this month's French Grand Prix will reveal if Ferrari are capable of winning the world championship.

Improved form at the Canadian Grand Prix has encouraged the German but his win came after both McLarens retired with technical problems prompting caution.

"If we had struggled in Montreal, it would probably have meant the championship was over for us, because we made some changes to the car and thought we had made a big step forward," said the double world champion. "Canada could have been an exception, or it could have represented a new situation. But we can say that only with any certainty after the Magny-Cours test, or more realistically, after the race weekend."
