Eddie stays for '99
Ferrari have announced that their driver, Eddie Irvine, "will continue his technical and racing co-operation with the Scuderia Ferrari-Marlboro" for the 1999 season. Although no financial details have been announced, it is thought that his fee is in the region of £3 million. This will be the fourth straight season that Eddie has driven for the Scuderia, although there had been possibilities that he may have signed for either Williams or Jordan.
Irvine has clearly decided that staying No. 2 to Michael Schumacher is preferable to the vague chances of improving his overall results whilst No. 1 in another team.
