F333SP Wins Petit Le Mans
10.10.98

The Ferrari of Wayne Taylor/Eric van de Poele/Emmanuel Collard won the 1,000-mile race at Road Atlanta which pioneered a championship that will run a series of sportscar races around the world to "Le Mans" rules.

Although marred by the withdrawal of the two Rafanelli BMWs, an otherwise strong field battled for the lead of this prestigious event. It looked as though the works Porsche GT1-98 of McNish/Dalmas/Alzen was heading for a certain victory until a heavy crash whilst the car was being driven by Yannick Dalmas caused its retirement.

The strongly running 333SP of the Danka team then went to the front to win by just over one minute from the Porsche LMP1-98 of Alboreto/Johansson/Muller. A Porsche GT1 driven by Boutsen/Kelleners/Wollek finished third.

Another F333SP driven by Dollahite/Davies/Lazzaro finished in fifth place.
