SportsRacing World Cup : Enna-Pergusa : Ferrari Wins
27.6.99

The Scuderia Italia 333SP scored its first win.
This was Round 4 of what was previously known as the ISRS but since re-named the SportsRacing World Cup following the up-grading of its status by the FIA.

Only a small entry of fourteen cars made the long journey to Enna-Pergusa in Sicily but amongst them was a strong contingent of seven F333SPs.

Giraudi/Tedeschi retired with transmission failure.
In qualifying Nicola Larini, the erstwhile Ferrari F1 test driver, made an outstanding entry to the series and put the Target 24 Riley & Scott Judd on to pole position. Next came two Ferraris of Pescatori/Moncini and Redon/Baldi, ahead of the Kremer Lola-Ford driven by another new driver to the series, John Nielsen.

The race itself was a close battle between the two front row protagonists. The Riley & Scott went into an initial lead and was probably the quicker car but the Scuderia Italia 333SP hounded it relentlessly. A late pit stop by the Riley & Scott gave the Ferrari the lead, which it kept to the finish. In third place came the F333SP of Redon/Baldi, followed by the similar cars of Zadra/Zadra, Calderari/Bryner and Lavaggi/Mazzacane,

Baldi/Redon took third place.
The brand new F333SP of Giraudi/Tedeschi retired with gearbox failure, as did the F333SP of erstwhile series leaders Sospiri/Collard.

The next round takes place at Donington on 18th July, sharing the bill with a round of the European F355 Challenge.
