Irvine Makes More Friends
The Irish Independent newspaper has reported that Ireland's Miss World representative gave the competition a dressing down.
She said it had been "a very bad experience" and she was particularly critical of one of the judges, racing driver Eddie Irvine.
She said he had used bad language and called her a Paddy.
"He was supposed to be interviewing me and all he did was rant on about what a f***ing wild night he'd had out on the town and how he was still half pissed," said Emir Holohan Doyle, the reigning Miss Ireland.
"After that he yelled over at the other judges - 'this is Emir, she's a Paddy!."
The 19-year-old music student from Roscommon maintains that while the competition may claim to have become more modern, behind the scenes it's still very much about looking like a Barbie doll.
"Although we didn't have to parade down the catwalk in our swimwear on the night, we still had to strut around backstage in togs in front of the judges and let them stare at us for three or four minutes," said Emir, who was tipped as a favourite but failed to make it past the first round.
"As if that wasn't bad enough, if someone wasn't revealing enough then they were asked to step forward and remove their sarongs completely so the judges could have a better look at them."
