The New F1 Car
It has been announced that the 1999 F1 car (the F650 project) will be unveiled to the press on Friday 29th January at 10.30 a.m. at the Auditorium "Enzo Ferrari" at Maranello.
The new car was expected to be tested by Michael Schumacher before Christmas but there have been some delays in the project and the first shake downs are not expected until early January. Luca Badoer has been confirmed in his position as test driver and a three year contract has been signed with the Bridgestone Tyre Company which will include the supply of additional tyres for F1 testing at Fiorano, in return for which Ferrari will fit some of their production cars with Bridgestones. It is reported that Goodyear tyres will no longer be fitted.
