The Dart Racing Ferrari 550 Maranello will make its debut in the FIA GT Championship at the Italian round in Pergusa, on September 22nd. It's 550 is one of the Italmechanica built examples which was used by the Rafanelli team two seasons ago. The Red-Bull sponsored Ferrari will be driven by Dieter Quester and Luca Riccitelli. Riccitelli has been one of the frontrunners in the N-GT class over the past two seasons, with Dieter Quester, and is looking forward to the project. “It is an exciting challenge; we are facing a hard job but we are confident that we will be ready to compete. It is a winning car, and very fast, so we hope for a good end of the season, maybe with a podium or a race. I know Pergusa well, but I have not driven there for seven years. It will be very special to drive a Ferrari for the first time in Italy.” “We have been working on the project since the winter,” team principal Alessandro Mariani said. “The car still has to be updated but we are confident that we will be ready for Pergusa. We can’t guarantee to win, but we can guarantee to do our best.” Quester reflected on the Ferrari drive: “After 40 years in motorsport, this is the first time I will have driven a Ferrari. It is a strange feeling, and I now know what the spirit of Ferrari means. It is really a different feeling,” the Austrian driver said. Click here to return to the Ferrari Happenings page.
