At the third round of the FIA GT Championship the Ferraris had very mixed fortunes. In the large-engined class three 550s were entered. Two were the ex-Prodrive cars being run by BMS Scuderia Italia and the other was the Italmechanica car now being run by the Force One team. Probably fed up with seeing their cars not performing properly, Prodrive put Thomas Enge into the lead BMS 550 and he promptly stuck it on pole position. Furthermore, during the first hour of the race he pulled away at over one second per lap until forced to retire with engine damage. The second BMS entry, driven by Lillian Bryner, retired after heavy contact with one of the JMB Ferrari 360s. The Force One team were completely out of luck with their 550 and failed to start the race with engine maladies. In the smaller N-GT class the quickest of the JMB 360s, driven by Montermini/Pescatori, went absolutely flat out all the way but they were simply not able to pass the class-winning Porsche of Ortelli/Lieb. The two cars were nose to tail for much of the final hour of the race but Montermini was pushed into a quick spin and was unable to catch up again. The 360 still finished second in class, however, and continues to lead the N-GT Championship by a wide margin.
