The Belgian Grand Prix proved to be a record-breaking weekend. It all began in qualifying when Schumacher finally managed to score a pole on his favourite track. By winning the race the day after, he had scored ten victories in one season beating the nine wins of Nigel Mansell in 1992. His win also secured the fiftieth consecutive race where a Ferrari driver was present in the top-three. In those fifty races, starting in Malaysia in 1999, we saw 32 wins, 24 second places and 13 third places. In 13 races we saw a perfect score (1-2 finish) for Ferrari and four times a 1-3 finish was scored. Add three races that ended with the Ferrari drivers in second and third place and we have seen twenty races with two Ferrari drivers at the podium! Seventy podium finishes where one hundred are possible is an impressive record that probably will stand for a long time. Maybe the record will be extended with a few more… It was not only this record that was broken. Schumachers win also secured the 500th podium in Ferrari F1 history. Barrichello scored the 501st six seconds later by the way… Five races where particularly fruitful for this record: Bremgarten 1953, Avus 1959, Monza 1960, Spa-Francorchamps 1961 and Aintree 1961 saw a podium filled with three Ferrari drivers. At Spa a Ferrari driver also scored the fourth place. It was also the tenth time that Schumacher won a race with Barrichello finishing second. It happened two times the other way around. Last but not least, it was the twelfth victory of a Ferrari car this year. Could they equal the 1988 McLaren-Honda record of 15 wins?
