It has finally been announced that the new 575M racing cars will be built by N-tech who ran the successful Alfa Romeo touring car team last season. A run of 10 cars will be built although the only customer so far is the JMB team who were highly successful in the FIA GT series with the Michelotto 360GTs. The new set-up will include the DART Racing team who ran a few races in 2002 with the Italmecanica 550 but failed to score any results. This "Italian solution" will be a disappointment to the UK Prodrive squad who have built and run a successful 550-based programme which has won races in both European GTs as well as in the US. They had been hoping to build a series of cars on behalf of Ferrari. This season Prodrive will compete in the ALMS as well as the Le Mans 24 Hours and will continue to supply customer cars to the Scuderia Italia team for their FIA GT campaign.
