The final shakedown test took place today for the Veloqx Prodrive Racing team before their two 550 Maranellos are shipped off to the United States for the 12 Hours of Sebring event which takes place on 15 March. During testing earlier in February at Misano, Tomas Enge had crashed the first car badly enough for it to be returned to Prodrive in Banbury for repairs, loosing crucial testing time. At a sub-zero, but dry and sunny, Snetterton circuit in Norfolk, the team had five of its six drivers present for the test. Only Dutchman Peter Kox was unable to attend. Both cars ran without problem for the entire day and tribute was paid by team bosses to the technical personnel who had prepared the cars to such a high standard. For Kelvin Burt, Anthony Davidson, Jamie Davies and Darren Turner, it was their first experience behind the wheel of the GTS class challenger and all were happy with the outcome of the day. After Enge had carried out installation laps on both cars, the four newcomers were able to complete both short and longer distance runs during which time they familiarised themselves with the technical.phpects of the car, fine-tune their comfort behind the wheel, and get to know the team and each other better. All expressed pleasure in the car’s handling, speed and drivability. Further details on the team’s specific plans for Sebring, including driver pairings, will be announced in two weeks time.
