Practice was great. He loved the Ferrari, and with no experience of car or circuit, he was quicker than me by lap four, and faster than anyone else has been in the car by lap ten. We agreed that I'd start the race and he'd run to the finish. The flag dropped and I had a reasonable start. As I turned into the third corner, the engine just died. The entire field surged past, leaving me a stranded spectator. By the time they towed me back to the pits the photographers had gone - and so had Gerhard.
