Look what's appeared on e-bay recently: an affordable F40, every inch perfection.... Turns out it's a modified 1981 Triumph TR7 fitted with a Rover V8 engine. Disappointingly it failed to sell, the best bid of £2,050 not meeting the reserve. There will be a lot of F40 owners kicking themselves because they did not think of this route themselves - a sensible and more practical alternative to their cars, a convertible, with a much better sound system, yet indistinguishable from the real thing and at less than the cost of a cam belt change. C'est la vie.
