As usual around this time a year many Italian car enthusiasts gathered at the Euretco Centre in Houten in the middle of the Netherlands, where for the fifteenth time the Auto Moto Italia exhibition was held. This time the central theme was Bizzarini of which several prototypes were present as well as a rare GT Europe 1900 of which only 12 were ever made. Although not known for the quantity of cars displayed, the exhibition always attracts some of the finest machinery. An ASA convertible could be found in the exhibition area while an ASA coupe was parked in the visitors car park and close by was a 208 GTB. Originally destined for the Italian marked, this car can be distinguished from its bigger brother by the rear bumper and the extra vent in front of the rear wheel fenders. Although not seen by myself, even an Enzo showed up in the car park! Now let's not forget that it is an indoor show. Unlike other car shows,
they tend to divide the limited space they have available as fairly as
possible, which means that the number of Ferraris or Lamborghinis is relatively
low. This year was no exception, but with an emphasis on the classics
this year there was a 250 GTE, two 330 GT 2+2s and two Daytonas. One of
these was used as an art object and was painted over by an artist - apparently
the paint can be washed away quite easily but somehow it did not feel
right..... Next to the cars there was also room for Italian food and memorabilia.
One stall even had rare Ferrari parts for sale, like a cylinder head of
a fifties' Testarossa, rear lights for a 250, and engine parts of a 275!
More affordable were the variety of model cars and other memorabilia.
