The new Michelloto-built 430GTC is leading the GT2 teams' class of this year's FIA GT Championship having won each of the three rounds held so far. Scuderia Ecosse joined the winner's circle at Oschersleben on Sunday, with Andrew Kirkaldy and Nathan Kinch taking the win (9th O/A) ahead of former Scuderia Ferrari F1 pilota Mika Salo and Rui Aguas of AF Corse. Kirkaldy/Kinch's team-mates Chris Niarchos and Tim Mullen were third ahead of JMB's Tim Sugden/Iradj Alexander-David, meaning that 430GTCs filled the first four places in class. AF Corse lead the GT2 teams' title chase Melo/Bobbi winning in the first round at Silverstone in May. Round 2 at Brno in May was won by Sugden/Alexander for JMB. Scuderia Ecosse's success at Oschersleben has moved them up into third place in the teams' title chase. Matteo Bobbi is the leading Ferrari pilota in the drivers' championship - in third place. The GT1 class is led by Aston Martin from "Maserati", nothing with a Ferrari badge is entered this year - how the mighty are fallen! New this year is the separate FIA GT3 European Championship, which is for cars sort of built for one make series', such as the Ferrari 430 Challenge. Allan Simonsen and Hector Lester took great first and second places at Silverstone in their 430/Ch but they could not match this in the next round at Oschersleben, finishing 10th in Race 3. Ferraris were nowhere in R4.
