Risi Competizione called on the services of former Scuderia Ferrari F1 pilota Mika Salo to secure the ALMS GT2 Teams' championship in the final race of the season at Laguna Seca on Sunday. Together with driving partner Stephane Ortelli, he got the job done, clawing back a 20 second deficit to put the Ferrari F430GT into first place with just minutes remaining in the race, a position he held until the chequered flag came down. This was Salo's second win for the team this year win
after he and Jaime Melo came from last place after the first lap and
took the win with a virtuoso display of driving in the Portland round.
The team took two other wins in a ten act opera played out at high speeds
across the width and breadth of the North American continent. They also
finished third in class in the Sebring 12hrs after leading for most
of the race, the competition debut for the Michelotto-produced Ferrari
F430GT. Click here to return to the Ferrari Happenings page.
