The road-going version of the last Challenge racing tipo has borne the 'CS' or 'Challenge Stradale' (challenge street) nomenclatura. The Factory has not continued with this theme and has named the new street-racer 'Scuderia' - presumably to imbue it with glamour by association with the F1 team.

Keen to bring you information on this exciting new tipo and the story of its development, we rushed to the Factory website. Below is their announcement which, in keeping with the philosophy behind this fabulous car, we have stripped down to the bare essentials; unfortunately this hasn't left much. As always the official Factory pics seem a bit clinical - you're never sure whether they're real or computer graphics.

This is a shame as you can be certain it's an absolutely fantastic car. 510 bhp! That's more than an F40. You can be guaranteed that the new car will handle and stop much better than an F40, not rattle your fillings out and not try to fire you off through the hedge when the turbos spool up! Such is 20 years of progress in automotive engineering.

'Scuderia' is of course Italian for 'stable'. In the UK it'll instantly be shortened to 'Scud', which was originally Saddam's powerful but wildly inaccurate missile, but later became a nick-name for certain rear-engined cars produced in the former Czechoslovakia.

.......software...reduces gearchange times to 60 milliseconds, and new traction control which, for the first time, combines the E-Diff electronic differential and the.....traction and stability control in a single integrated system.....

The 430 Scuderia will be officially unveiled by Michael Schumacher at the IAA Motor Show in Frankfurt in September 2007."
