Best known for his achievements as Renault F1's Sporting Director between '77 and '87, the French born, multi-lingual Sage, oversaw the introduction and development of the RS01 turbo car, giving us great sporting moments, including Arnoux and Villeneuve's epic dual at the 1978 French Grand Prix.
A life-long Ferrarista, he raced a 250GT at the age of 20 on the Mont Blanc Rally and a 275GTB as a privateer at the 1969 Monthlery 1000kms. He later established his own successful race team, guiding his long time-friend Jean Pierre Jabouille, to the 1976 European Formula Two Championship before F1.
Post Renault, he joined Charles Pozzi Ferrari, team managing the Michelotto built F40LM's raced by Jean Alesi and Jean Louis Schlesser, either side of the Atlantic .
A passionate, respected and forthright authority on all things Ferrari, he travelled the globe judging, competing and driving his beloved V12s. He will be much missed
