FERRARI HILLCLIMB CHAMPIONSHIP The star attraction was undoubtedly Geoffrey Rollason's 360 Modena and he led the practice times ahead of current champion Robin Ward (308GTB) and series returnee Brian Jackson, whose 355 Challenge had finally been allowed into the Championship. John Marshall (328GTB) also looked strong during the practice runs. The first competitive run on Sunday saw Brian Jackson throw down the gauntlet with an impressive 50.92 secs, which was to be a class leading time until Rollason beat it in the howling 360 with a controlled 49.54 sec run which set a new class record. Closely behind came Ward and Marshall, with Keith Maddox (328GTS) slotting into fifth place. The second afternoon runs brought slower times for Rollason and Jackson but Robin Ward, never afraid of moving his car around, improved by over 1 second to post a 50.25 which was enough for second place ahead of Jackson. Ward's time, incidentally, was quicker than any 308/328 had ever done before. John Marshall improved in the afternoon to a personal best and secured fourth place, ahead of Maddox and Andrew Duncan (328GTS). Mike Spicer (308GT4) and Stuart Bailey (246GT) rounded off the other contestants in the class. With the PEP percentages applied Ward easily took the maximum points towards the championship and now joins Marshall at the top of the table after the first two rounds. The next round takes place at Harewood on Saturday, 13th May. FERRARI HILLCLIMB CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS : ROUND 2 : PRESCOTT : 6/7 MAY 2000
