FERRARI HILLCLIMB CHAMPIONSHIP
REPORT : ROUND 5 : MIRA : 27 MAY 2000
A relatively small contingent of Ferraris gathered at the Nuneaton proving ground as a result of overlap with the Isle of Man rounds, and the no-shows from the 246 Dinos of Robin Ashley and Stuart Bailey. The weather was not a lot of fun, cold and windy and sometimes wet. John Marshall, after losing it comprehensively on the first corner of his first run, went on to head the practice times from Brian Jackson's F355 and Nick Frost's 348GTC, with
Mike Spicer, a freshman at MIRA, bringing up the rear in his 308GT4.
After the lunch the first official run was wet, which was tough on Brian Jackson. He had an evening engagement and there were so many delays he had to miss the second dry official, so effectively there were only three in contention. Nick Frost put in a really quick last run to take the class
win from John Marshall. It was Marshall, however, who posted a very quick run to just take the maximum FHC points from Frost. Mike Spicer, though outgunned, wound his GT4 up to a very creditable time too, getting ahead of Brian Jackson's first wet run time.
