FERRARI HILL CLIMB CHAMPIONSHIP
REPORT : ROUND 6 : GURSTON DOWN : 15 JULY 2001


Excellent weather prevailed on the same day as the British Grand Prix, but a relatively small entry was made even smaller when Jos Van de Perre pulled out to go and watch the Formula One cars!

There were no incidents and it was an enjoyable well-run meeting where nearly everyone got a third timed run due to timing gear failures.

Richard Allen had his 360 Modena there as his 328 was still not working properly and he led the first official runs, dipping well into the 37-second mark. Nick Frost (348GTC) just missed that important milestone with a 38.04 run to take second, ahead of Geoff Dark (308GT4), Mike Spicer (308GTB) and Stuart Bailey (246GT).

For the second runs Allen and Frost failed to improve, and Frost again frustratingly missed the 37-second mark by just eight hundredths of a second.

Both Dark and Spicer, however, were able to improve on their times but not enough to lift them up the final order.

Richard Allen therefore emerged as the winner from Nick Frost, although once the PEP factors had been applied it was Geoff Dark who took away the maximum Championship points and further consolidated his lead at the top of the table.
