FERRARI
HILL CLIMB CHAMPIONSHIP Not a huge entry but a serious one nevertheless, with all the front running point scorers present. Fine weather for practice showed the Ferraris were not messing about, with the slowest time of 37.51sec. being good enough for a class win not so long ago. Jon Goodwin, back on parade at last with his F355, stormed around in 35.71 just under his own record. Brian Jackson was close behind with his best ever of 36.06 in his F355, with Nick Frost (348GTC) about a second back. After lunch, by the time we approached the start line, it was incredibly wet, with both standing water and poor visibility. On the first official run Geoff Dark (308GT4) headed Richard Allen's 360 Modena by just three hundredths, then Brian Jackson followed by Nick Frost, and Peter Hayman (512TR) on his first visit here. Jon Goodwin slipped a long way back to just head Mike Spicer (308GTB). On the final run it was wet but only normally so, and Geoff Dark made full use of his skill, Bridgestones' rubber and the GT4's nimbleness to take the class win, and put one over the more powerful Ferraris. Jon Goodwin, despite wasting half a second on the start line pad, was just seven hundredths back, with Richard Allen and Brian Jackson tied half a second behind. Nick Frost was next, just ahead of his rival Peter Hayman, whilst Mike Spicer, his 308GTB back with a misfire again, slipped out of touch. With the PEP factors applied Geoff Dark again took home maximum points and further consolidated his almost unassailable position at the top of the Championship table. RESULTS :
