FERRARI HILLCLIMB CHAMPIONSHIP The threatened rain never materialised and the weather turned out to be dry and cloudy, with a bit of sun appearing from time to time. After Saturday's practice, the two 355s should have been favourite to win but Robin Ward, in his 308GTB, was dangerously close to them. Rollason was unhappy with the paddle gearshift on his 355 F1 and, after having three practices, elected to compete on Sunday in his F40, somewhat unlikely as a hillclimb machine and the first hillclimb appearance for one of these. Sunday proved eventful for Rollason, beaching it at Ettores on run 1 and out of touch on run 2. Allen was slower than in practice with his 355, slipping into third. New star, Robin Ward, won convincingly with his 308GTB, collecting maximum championship points from John Marshall, second on scratch with his 328GTB, and new boy Stuart Bailey pushed his 246GT fast enough to win the Club handicap.
