Practice on Saturday was on a track in perfect condition with warm sunshine, and with everyone having three runs. The Ferrari class record of 61.74 secs was in for a pasting as Robin Ward (308GTB), Jon Goodwin (F355) and Geoff Rollason (F355 F1) all hit the 61 sec mark. Goodwin seemed to have the edge, with all of his three runs below the record.

The first race runs on Sunday morning confirmed practice form and Goodwin immediately produced a sub-record time to lead Rollason, Ward and John Marshall (328GTB). The second runs were even quicker as Michael Spicer (308GT4) ably demonstrated when he led the class away with a time some three seconds quicker than his morning performance. Roger Hickman (F355) made up for a morning error by running in the 67 secs bracket although he had been as low as 65.4 in practice. Both Ward and Geoff Dark (308GTB) tried too hard to keep up with the 355s and had failed runs. Goodwin then produced a storming 60.75 second run which gave him an excellent class win, ahead of Rollason who, with a 61.12, was also far below the old record.

With the PEP factors applied, Ward took 16 points to add to his Championship tally, with Jon Goodwin taking 13. The other two Championship protagonists, Marshall and Dark, took relatively modest points tallies home, but the Championship is still wide open, although Ward is beginning to strengthen his advantage.
