FERRARI HILLCLIMB CHAMPIONSHIP
A good entry of 15 Ferraris congregated in the Prescott paddock, much repaired after its quagmire status during the previous meeting there.
Geoff Rollason (355GTS) headed the entry list and quickly put his mark on the proceedings, with three very quick practice runs - all in the 51s, with Jon Goodwin (Mondial) and Scott Winnard (328GTB) being the only other runners in the 51 second bracket.
The competitive runs on Sunday confirmed Rollason's superiority, with a quick 50.79-second run. Geoff Dark (308GTB) moved into a very impressive second place, ahead of the more fancied runners like Goodwin, John Swift (308GTB) and Scott Winnard (328GTB).
With PEP factors taken into consideration, Dark emerged with the maximum 20 points towards the Ferrari Hillclimb Championship, followed by Goodwin
and Rollason. After four rounds Goodwin now leads the Championship on 47 points, with John Marshall (328GTB) in second place with 40 points.
Other Ferraris at the event had mixed fortunes. Brian Jackson took a class win in his 355 Challenge car, whereas Tony Lambert had to withdraw his mighty turbo-charged 308GT4 with gear selection problems as well as blocked fuel pumps.
