FERRARI HILLCLIMB CHAMPIONSHIP
REPORT : ROUND 9 : SHELSLEY WALSH

This was a one-day meeting, unlike the FOC visit of the previous month. The Midland Automobile Club still allows practice runs to take place in any order so an early start is not essential. The threatened rain held off throughout the day.

The two F355s of Richard Allen and Geoff Rollason were very closely matched, even posting identical times on their second runs. However, it was his excellent first run time which gave Allen the class win.

Geoff Dark was clearly reaping the benefits of his freshly re-built engine as he stormed into third place, ahead of the two 328s of John Marshall and Scott Winnard.

The man of the day had to be Robin Ashley in his Dino Spyder. He had been seriously psyching himself up during the afternoon and for his final run even put the Dino's roof on (he normally runs topless). With his PEP factor taken into consideration, Ashley took the maximum Championship points, followed by Geoff Dark and Richard Allen.

As only the best seven scores count, Championship points are now being dropped and therefore Geoff Dark has moved into a joint lead with John Marshall. Previous points leader, Jon Goodwin, who did not appear at Shelsley, has slipped back into third place.

The next round takes place at Loton Park on 19th July.
