FERRARI HILLCLIMB CHAMPIONSHIP
Famous for the steeply banked high speed circuit so beloved of motor magazine road testers, the Motor Industry Research Association's facility near Nuneaton is a relatively new sprint venue with limited access over which Midland AC, our hosts at Shelsley, presently have sole rights.
As the Ferrari entry assembled in the spacious paddock the weather was cool and bright with not a threat of rain. The course was easy to learn, with most of it fast and many of our competitors reaching 100mph or more through the speed trap. Len Watson had his 328 back on PZeroCs and was setting a cracking pace not far behind Richard Allen in his F355. Robin Ashley deservedly took the maximum 20 Championship points in his 246GTS, with Richard Allen taking the class win.
