Stuart Robinson leaves Ferrari UK, joins Ferrari SpA.

Inchcape, the international automotive services group, today announced the appointment of Richard Mackay as Managing Director of its Ferrari business with effect from 1 May 2000. He succeeds Stuart Robinson, who will be joining Ferrari SpA in a senior role that will be announced in due course.

Mr Mackay will be responsible for the development of Inchcape's Ferrari and Maserati operations in the UK and overseas. Inchcape is Ferrari's largest independent distributor, representing the Ferrari marque in the UK, Belgium and the Middle East; and its Maserati stablemate in the UK and the Middle East. The UK distribution company, Maranello Concessionaires, celebrates its 40th anniversary this year.

Inchcape Group Chief Executive Peter Johnson said: "Our Ferrari business goes from strength to strength and is now one of Inchcape's most successful operations worldwide. The addition of the revitalised Maserati marque to our portfolio promises further growth opportunities in 2000 and beyond."

Richard Mackay Mr Mackay brings with him more than 28 years' experience in the UK automotive industry, much of which has been devoted to building brands for manufacturers such as Chrysler Jeep, Daihatsu, Renault and Alfa Romeo. He was formerly Managing Director of Chrysler Jeep Imports UK, where he spearheaded the successful relaunch of the Jeep and Chrysler brands into the UK.

Stuart Robinson will be leaving the Inchcape Group after 15 years. Mr Robinson ran a number of Inchcape's automotive businesses in the Far East before being appointed Managing Director of Ferrari UK in 1993. The UK is now Ferrari's third largest market in the world after the USA and Germany.
