SportsRacing World Cup : Brno : JMB Giesse 333SP Wins
6.8.00

For the sixth round of the SportsRacing World Cup the circus moved back to Europe after a couple of races in North America. Virtually none of the big European teams made the trip over to the States, although a Judd-engined F333SP (the Doran Special) came second at Daytona and actually won at Road America. To further dispell fears that the 333 was going to be uncompetitive against the Stateside teams, a 'proper' 333 finished third at Daytona and second at Road America.

But back to Brno - five Ferrari 333SPs were entered and two of them occupied the front row. The young Frenchman David Terrien set an outstanding pole position in the JMB Giesse car, well over a second ahead of the BMS Scuderia Italia Ferrari of Marco Zadra and Philipp Peter, with Peter actually setting the time.

The GLV Brums Ferrari of Lavaggi/Filiberti was in fourth place on the grid, with the Calderari/Bryner/Zadra A. car in seventh and Waaijenberg/van der Lof in ninth.

The start was held under damp but drying conditions and the talented Frenchman Terrien opened up a 30-second lead over the rest of the field. At the half-way stage he handed the Ferrari over to Pescatori, who maintained the lead all the way to the finish.

The R & S Judd of Baldi/Formati finished second, with the Ferraris of Lavaggi/Filiberti and Zadra/Peter in third and fourth positions. Both the other Ferraris finished as well, with the Calderari/Bryner/Zadra 333 in sixth place, just ahead of the Dutch National Racing Team-entered car of Waaijenberg/van der Lof. With this result the JMB Giesse team have extended their lead in the championship.

The next round takes place in the UK at Donington Park on 27th August.
