Ferrari Happenings

New Official Ferrari Website
7.12.00

With immediate effect Ferrari have abandoned their previous website, www.ferrari.it, and have announced the opening of a new one, www.ferrari.com.

The new website is the work of a company called Ferrari.Net, which is a joint venture owned 80% by Ferrari and 20% by Ciaoweb. The company is based at the Ferrari SpA headquarters and the Managing Director is Dott. Lorenzo Legnaioli.

The news of the new website will come as a relief to the millions of tifosi around the world who had to contend with the ponderousness of the old ferrari.it site. The new website is much improved from a design point of view but there are still a large number of technical glitches which need sorting and it is tortuous to use. Bookmarking particular pages seems impossible at present and window sizes are so small that printing becomes a multi-page task.Particularly irritating is that a visit to the site will inadvertently resize your browser window for future applications. Hopefully this will all be resolved very soon!

The aim of Ferrari.Net is to provide access to the whole Ferrari environment, with particular reference to communications and image, customer care and e-commerce. It will also develop the presence of the Maserati marque on the Internet.

A few figures on www.ferrari.com:

- two languages, English and Italian
- around 2500 pages of text
- around 3000 photos
- around 30 audio/video files

The main areas on the site are as follows:

- the Company

- the GT Cars
- Scuderia Ferrari
- Ferrari Club
- Ferrari Merchandise
- Events
- News

The site aims to further develop international contacts. Today, there are on average 250,000 hits per day with the number sometimes reaching as high as one million. Here is how those visitors break down by country:

USA 28% - Italy 12% - Japan 10% - Brazil 9% - Germany 7%

Over the next few weeks, in collaboration with Ferrari Idea, run by Dott. Alberto Crippa, e-commerce activities will get underway, including products exclusively produced for Internet customers.

The new site will run alongside that of the Ferrari World Club and another site for media representatives only. This coming January will see the launch of a Maserati website with its own address, www.maserati.it.
