Next Generation 333SP Becomes a Chrysler
13.7.00

The sports prototype which has been developed by Italian sportscar manufacturer Dallara is to be taken over by Chrysler and re-badged under that brand name.

This removes the possibility of the Dallara design being taken over by Ferrari as the long-awaited replacement for the elderly 333SP model. In most forms of sports prototype racing the 333SP is now showing its age and is being out-paced by the more modern BMW, Audi, Lola and Panoz designs. Only in the European SRWC series can the 333s still achieve race wins, although not in terms of outright speed.

Chrysler is already present in sports prototype racing but using a Reynard chassis, which has not proved successful.

With the Dallara chassis going to Chrysler there are no other rumoured plans for a 333SP replacement.
