The American Doran/Lista racing team, which has campaigned an F333SP for many years, has finally given up the unequal struggle in making the elderly V-12 engine of the Ferrari competitive under the air-intake restricter rules applicable in ALMS and SportsRacing World Cup regulations. The team has therefore pulled the Ferrari engine out and replaced it with a Judd V-10 of 4.0 litres capacity.

Re-named the Doran Special, the car had its first race at the Sebring 12-hours on 18th/19th March. In the hands of car owner Fredy Lienhard, together with Mauro Baldi and Didier Theys, the car qualified in ninth position on the grid and ran a strong race to finish fifth behind the two winning Audi R8s and the BMW V-12 LMRs which finished third and fourth.

The Doran Special/Judd at Sebring
All Ferrari nomenclature has been removed from the car, which was entered as a "Doran Special". The 333SP tubs were in any case manufactured by Dallara and therefore, with the removal of the Ferrari V-12, there remained no more Ferrari parts on which to put a Prancing Horse!
