Australian GP: Schuey Starts Favourite
24.2.01

According to bookmakers Ladbrokes, Michael Schumacher is the even money favourite to retain his Formula 1 World Championship title. He is also odds-on to win the Australian Grand Prix, according to the British bookies, and is listed at 6/8.

Mika Hakkinen is 2/1 for both the title and the season-opener at Melbourne, David Coulthard is 7/2 for the title and 5/2 for next Sunday’s race. Rubens Barrichello could be worth a punt at 20/1 for the title and, temptingly, 12/1 for victory in Melbourne.

Ladbrokes spokesman Matt Finnigan said: “One driver who could be worth following for the title is Juan Pablo Montoya at 25/1. For the Australian GP, David Coulthard has been flying in testing and is well worth a flutter at 5/2.”
