Ferrari SpA Announces First Half Results

The Ferrari S.p.A. Board of Directors met today to determine the results for the first half year 2001 of the Ferrari and Maserati group.
Commercial results of the first six months have revealed a particularly positive situation for Ferrari, with Maserati consolidating its positive trend, even before the launch of the new Spyder which will be officially unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show on Tuesday 11th September.
The analysis of the first half's figures reveal that the Group's turnover reached a figure of 536 million Euros, an increase of 19 percent over the same period last year, while the consolidated operating figure is 17 million Euros, an increase of 90 percent compared with the first half of 2000.
The net financial position is positive and shows considerable growth: 207 million Euros, 80 percent more than for the same period in 2000.
The two marques's sales have increased 7 percent.
Apart from the very positive financial results, Ferrari retained the Drivers' World Formula 1 title and took the Constructors' World Championship for the third year running.
The Board of Directors also appointed the Sporting Director Jean Todt to the role previously occupied by Carlo Mangiarino, who was thanked for his dedication and the service rendered. For Jean Todt, who has guided the Scuderia for the past eight years, this appointment is further recognition of his achievements.
