Become A World Champion Ferrari Racing Driver
16.9.01

A rare opportunity has just arisen to race a Ferrari in the most popular single make racing series in the world.

Maranello Concessionaires Limited, official Ferrari distributor for the UK, is able to offer drivers a strictly limited number of places in its Ferrari 360 Challenge racing team in the 2002 season.

Ferrari UK prepares and runs a team of eight cars in the West European 360 Challenge, which takes place over seven rounds starting in March and ending in October. Teams from France, Belgium, Holland and Spain also compete in the West European section of the Challenge.

To be eligible for a place in the team, drivers must be Ferrari customers and they must also hold an International Competition Licence issued by one of the Motor Sport Associations representing the FIA.

The cost of participating is estimated to be around £135,000 (including VAT) for the 2002 season. This will provide the driver with a new Ferrari 360 Challenge car and also covers transportation of the car to the seven scheduled races, plus the services of a dedicated Ferrari race technician at each event.

"Opportunities to join the UK 360 Modena Challenge team are few and far between, so if there are drivers interested in taking up a place then they should contact us immediately," said John Newman, General Manager of Ferrari in the UK. "The 360 Modena Challenge is an exciting, glamorous and thoroughly competitive series which provides enormous satisfaction and enjoyment to the competitors."

The 360 Challenge car is based on the innovative contents of the Ferrari 360 Modena road car. The target of the Challenge version was to develop a racing package that would appeal to customers, as well as setting performance levels higher than the previous F355 Challenge.

The most important features of the 360 Challenge version are:

The engine power and features are identical to the road version of the 360 Modena: 90°-V8 eight cylinder engine, 3586cc with a maximum power of 400 bhp. Further improvements to the 360 Modena Challenge version have been developed including:

The car's interior, apart from the instrument panel, is merely racing essentials: racing type three-spoke steering wheel, carbon fibre on the centre console, tunnel and door panels and fabric coating only for the dashboard and the ECU covers on the rear bulkhead.

The 360 Challenge version is produced in Maranello, Italy, exclusively for this race series.

Interested drivers should contact John Newman at Ferrari UK, Thorpe Industrial Estate, Egham, Surrey TW20 8RJ (tel. 01784 436222).
