GOODYEAR MARANELLO FERRARI CHALLENGE
RACE REPORT : ROUND 8 : DONINGTON PARK : 7/8 AUGUST 1999
PADDOCK STORIES
- Happy Birthday! To add to his race win, John Pogson also had the pleasure of celebrating his birthday on the same day. Maybe, though, at his age that spoilt the day for him.
- Good to see the Christopher clan back in the paddock for the first time this season. Andy drove a storming race from 25th on the grid to sixth at the finish, just 0.3 secs ahead of newcomer, Andrew Micheals, in a 308GT4.
- Another welcome returnee was Terry Esom in his 'O' class 328GTB, who has so far this season been playing on the hills with the FHC boys, where he lies seventh in the Championship.
-
After its Zandvoort shunt, Stuart Bowler's F40 had been repaired by the Specialised Cars team and tested successfully on the Thursday, but Stuart never intended doing this race and was a regrettable absentee. The race at the front would have been even more exciting with his F40 there.
- Oil and water were again intermingling in Swifty's 308 engine, heralding another rebuild. Seems that Wills rings are out of favour. Time for a 360?
- The Club's hospitality marquee on the inside of Redgate was busier than ever, with many guests from Goodyear and Rebus enjoying the friendly atmosphere, overlooked as always by the lovely Natalie.
