FERRARI HILLCLIMB CHAMPIONSHIP Morning practice saw some excellent times, with Robin Ward (308GTB) a fraction ahead of Richard Allen (328GTB), with both being well under the class record. Jon Goodwin (F355GTS) was third quickest, following by John Marshall (328GTB) and Richard Baker (308GT4). The lunch interval brought the forecast deterioration in the weather and rain affected the rest of the meeting. The track was very wet for the first competitive runs. Ward took an immediate lead from Goodwin, Len Watson (328GTB), Marshall and Baker. Allen tried a little too hard and spun his 328 into the flexible soft Recticel safety barriers and suffered no damage. For the second runs, the track conditions improved somewhat and Jon Goodwin used the power of his 355 to pull out a 0.3 second lead from Ward, with Allen placing himself into third following his earlier spin. Baker took fourth, ahead of Marshall and Watson, who were just 0.06 seconds apart! With the PEP factors applied, Champion-elect Robin Ward took the maximum points, followed by Goodwin and Allen.
